Nothing can take the place of a healthy set of teeth, but when disease or an accident ends in tooth loss, it is good to know what options you have. One of the alternatives is Dental Implants.
Implants have been use in dentistry for a long time. Modern treatments with Dental Implants have become more predictible and successful. You may choose implants to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or to support a full set of dentures.
The placement of an implant, generally, is a three part process that takes several months.
First we'll refer you to the Specialist who surgically places the implant into the jaw. The gum is then secured over the implant, where it will remain covered for approximately 3-4 months. Process called osseointegration.
Second we will uncover the implant and insert an extension called abutment to the implant. Now we do have good foundation for the new tooth. We'll then take a final impression for your custom artificial tooth, called a dental crown, based on a shape, size, color and fit that will blend with your other teeth.
Third we will cement the crown to the implant post.
Don't forget that regular dental visits are essential to the life and long term success of your implant. We will provide you with a recall program to ensure the health of your imlant and your natural teeth. Meticulous home care is critical to the success of the implant as well.
